best small business ideas

If you are fed up of making peanut sized profits that don’t even line the bottom of your pocket here we are going to evaluate an idea you might be able to do.

One Of The Best Small Business Ideas

For 2012

Here’s your groovy idea.

2012 is as good a time as any to make money.  If people tell you that you can’t do this or you can’t do that then just ignore them.

You can do ANYTHING you want if you just put your mind to it.

Why not set up a group on Facebook and become an admin for it?  This has to be one of the best new ideas for business you’ll encounter in 2012.

Facebook is obviously a  global phenomenon with millions of people using it all the time, that goes without saying.  This massive group of people is obviously something you can take advantage of and turn to your advantage.

As an admin of a group on Facebook you have certain rights.  You can message people in your group and they will all get notification of your messages.

Just as in the last 10 years when masterminds all said that email marketing was the way forward, it’s all about gathering a group of “like minded people” and getting your message in front of them.

Just don’t give them the kiss of death!

This means you’ve got to genuinely care for, and be passionate about your group topic and the people who are in it.  You’ve got to ideally live it and breathe it 24/7/365.

If you create a large group with people in it, and then start blasting therm with commercial advertising (to make money) then you will quickly see how fast this business model can implode on you!

You’ve got to be “all about the relationship..” baby!

So, let’s take a look at what you do and how you do it.. okdoke???

First step:

Look in your left hand menu inside your facebook account you’ll see an option to create a new group.

The next step is to give it a name that is relevant to whatever your group is about.

I would suggest you leave the group privacy settings as “open” but this is up to you.  If it’s open then people can see your group and apply to join it.  I would only make the group secret if you don’t want people to know about it.

Once you’ve created the group, you should see the groups title show up in the left hand menu along with any other groups you may be a member of.

If you click on the name of the group this will take you in to the home page for your group.

In your group you can do various things such as uploading a custom header image to the group, giving it a unique description etc.  These are all straightforward to do.

To change the description, you should see an option on the right – click on the symbol that looks like a flower and then select “edit group”.  From in there you can make all the changes you’d like.

If you’d like to edit the header image then what you need to do is hover your mouse somewhere over on the top right of the image bar that runs across the top of your group.  You’ll see an option appear to let you make the change.  You can drag/reposition the image to get it just how you’d like.

So now that’s all the nice fancy stuff out of the way your next step is to find people to join your group.  Herein lies the keys to success.  No fancy images will get people to come, nor will a nice smile or pleasant posts in your group.  You’ve got to get up off your feet and get those people to come and pay a visit!

HOW THE HECK AM I GONNA DO THAT?

OK… let’s make this simple…..

Find other groups that do a similar thing to what you want and then join those groups.

If your group is about snooker or billiards then find other billiards groups and join them.

When you are inside this other group, find the members.  There will be notification on the right telling you how many members are in that group.

Your job is to click on each members name and send them a message… :)

What I prefer to do is right click each persons name with your mouse, and then “open in new tab”.  This will open their profile page up in a new tab in your browser.  Do this for a half dozen members.

When you are on their profile page, depending on their privacy settings you may see the option to message them.

I would suggest you type out a generic message you can send to each of these, make sure it sounds good and then copy and paste the same message to all these people.  It needs to be fair and light.  If you include the URL to your group then they can click the link and go straight to your group.

Here is the message I normally send out:

Hi, hope you dont mind.  Ive started another group for people interested in this – the more groups that help us the better if you ask me.  If you’d like to come and join I’d love your support! Please come over and join at: http://www.facebook.com/groups/17876179522436/24212038200/#!/groups/142ee183026/ it would be great.  Thanks.  Please also invite your friends in this area :)

..and that’s it!

You’ll find you can probably send out messages to 100 to 150 an hour in this way, but just do as many as you feel comfortable with.  This will get things rolling and get people “requesting to join your group”.

Don’t forget!

You’ll need to “approve” these people….

Go to your group.  On the right you’ll see a list of people who sent in a request to join.  You simply need to click on the tick (check) symbol and they will then be added.

This is a way to generate a smart list of like minded people on Facebook to which you can send out the occasional message to or mention your website to…

In order to ramp things up you can outsource the work.

There are places such as fiverr.com where people would be willing to manually work for you for one hour and go out and add 100 people to your group.

For $100 invested this could be 2000 people added. Maybe more!

If you spent $500 a month for 12 months you’d soon have 120,000 people in your group.. and that is, my friend when your paydays become nice.

You can do all sorts with numbers like that.  You can mention your website (but not too often!) and even send out a rare once a month link to an offer  – perhaps a product for sale that would benefit thew group.

If only 2% of people respond to an offer and you’ve got 120,000 people that’s 2400 people a month who are responding to your offer.

That could be an offer for a $27 ebook, and all of a sudden you can see the potential here I hope… even if only 500 of those people purchased the ebook you’d earn $13,500.  One offer a month and that’s over $160,000 a year.

I hope you’ve enjoyed, and agree that this is one of the best small business ideas you’ll see this year.. now go out and create your monster but be sure to nurture and cherish the group because its your prized possession!  This is one of my favorite new ideas for business for 2012 and beyond!

Childrens Business Ideas – 21 Ideas To Consider

Finding Suitable Childrens Business Ideas

So, you’ve got inquisitive children who need some channeling and you want to get them introduced to the idea of business.  This is a noble and solid idea because it teaches kids so many things about money and independence, but how do you begin and what is the way forward?

After all you can’t simply ask your

8 year old child to start

selling cars… can you?

The thing is with children is that you normally find their parents are quite entrepreneurial in some way, or hold highly esteemed positions within their companies.  They are able to project their own positive image onto their children who then feel that they can achieve anything in life.

Anyway, moving on, what sort of business can be suitable for kids?

Which of the thousands of children’s business ideas make the most sense?

childrens business ideas

What sort of future do you envisage for your child? Can you foster creativity without being a pushy parent?

There are in fact numerous options available, and to be honest there is very little stopping kids from doing what we wouldn’t do – within reason anyway.  There are going to be the obvious restrictions relating to decency and safety but that besides, it’s good to foster the right environment – one of creativity and positivity.

The type of business that a child can do is largely dependent on their skills, ambitions and confidence.

One child may have a parent who sells cars, and if they had hung round they would soon pick up the sales patter and feel quite at home reproducing what they see “mummy” or “daddy” doing.

Another child may not feel comfortable in that environment but may feel very confident in their ability to write lines of computer code.

Getting your child to embrace their skills should be the main place to start.

Putting them right out of their comfort zone at a young age is probably not wise so if you use what they’ve already got and encourage them to start a “fun” business out of that.  Making it fun makes a lot of sense and will help them to keep trying even when times are hard and they face obstacles that will need to be overcome.

Here are a few childrens business ideas you can consider to get you started – hopefully they will get that “spark” of inspiration going…!

1:

Making badges and selling them - in fact making all manner of things via “craftwork” and selling them at school, summer fairs and even online with parents help!

2:

Making items of food and selling them.  This list is pretty much endless.  These days there are lots of companies who sell specialty foods online and offline.  Small niche cheese companies and many more ideas spring to mind.  Whatever your child likes to make they can put to use.  Maybe they make their own brand of marmalade?  Bottle it and sell it at local fairs or online!

3:

Teaching other kids how to do “something” – perhaps your child is gifted at writing computer games – they could teach their skills for an hour in the evenings or at the weekends and make money from it.  It’s amazing what other people want to know – and will pay good money for!

4:

Run a garage sale from home – this is fun because the kids get to see money being placed in their hands as well as learning how to interact and deal with people – perhaps even negotiating a little bit to get the best price.

5:

Pet-sitting service – these days people lead busy lives – so the offer of having someone walk their pet for them is often much appreciated.  If your child loves animals they could offer to walk dogs, feed cats, clean out rabbits or hamsters etc.

6:

Use their artistic skills – perhaps your child is gifted at drawing people – use this to help them make a lot of money for themselves.  if they are really good then they can make a lot of money quickly without doing too much promotion as most of their work will come from recommendations and word of mouth.

7:

Designing clothes – some kids seem to know exactly what fashions are “in” or “so last year!”  Perhaps they could print onto t-shirts.  if they have an artistic flair they could even create funny phrases for printing or offer one of many different related services.

8:

Offering IT support – this sounds crazy but most kids are very tech-savvy these days and would put many adults to shame.  They can offer to fix problems and help family members to do “stuff” with their computers – there are so many different children’s business ideas to look at that it makes the mind boggle!

9:

Washing cars in their spare time – something that requires nothing but some hard work and a bucket with water and a sponge.  Simply look for dirty cars and ask the owner if they would like their cars washed.  The car can be cleaned in less than an hour and the kid will make some good money from it.

10:

Cleaning windows – again, like washing cars, this is just something that requires some effort from them.  Obviously you don’t want your kids going high up a ladder if they are young and not confident – so this may suit older children.

11:

Cleaning out swimming pools – easy to do – the child only needs a long pole with a net on the end of it and they can keep the leaves and debris out of pools all year long.  Depending how busy they get, they could take on other kids to help them and take a portion of each pool cleaned, thus making a large income truly scalable.

12:

Where there’s muck there’s brass! – if your child has a metal detector they could go looking for items buried in the ground.  While this is really more of as hobby than a business, some people have made very large sums of money from this.  With a little bit of thinking though, you could offer services looking for exploration companies, essentially offering your services for a fee.

13:

Buying and selling – the most loved idea by parents.  Kids can look for bargains at markets and online at the various auction sites.  If they find there are plenty of buyers for XYZ product then all they need to do is to be able to find a supplier for that product and negotiate a good discount.

14:

Offering home grown produce – if your child loves to grow fruit and vegetables they could grow their own and sell their own “organic” produce directly at local markets or knocking door to door int heir local community (with a parent supervising ideally depending on the child’s age!)

15:

Offering a “shopping service” – how many people are too busy, or ill or elderly and struggle to go out and get the groceries or fetch an important parcel? Now you can fetch these items for people in echange for a fee – this will be in much demand and highly sought after!

16:

Offering a house sitting service – This is one of the most popular children’s business ideas because there lots of people shop from mail order catalogues and find they have to take a day off work just so someone is “home” when the new sofa is delivered.  Now you could offer to be that person who is “in” when the parcel or item arrives.  This is also useful if you’d like to ensure someone is “home” when you are not there – helping to deter would-be burglars who might be wondering if the place is empty or not.

17:

Being that “odd-job” person.  You could cut lawns or run an almost unlimited number of errands for that person if you wanted to.  Basically just helping them out with the things they never really seem to get around to doing.

18:

Gardening services – with just some effort you could offer to rake leaves from lawns and tidy up borders and shrubs.  Many good gardeners get paid surprisingly well so don’t discount anything until you’ve taken a closer look at the potential of it!

19:

Website building – how many kids can build websites these days?  If you are good at this you could offer to create websites for friends, family members and even local tradesmen in your area.  Many entrepreneurs have started with their own skills and expanded their skill-sets to build online empires worth millions!

20:

How about finding lost golf balls?  If you love to be on the fairway then you could offer to find those pesky lost balls for golfers who don’t have the time or inclination to look themselves.

21:

Exercising agitated horses – you can make easy money helping horse owners with their daily tasks.  They will be more than grateful to have an extra pair of helping hands.

Whatever it is that your child decides to do (even if it is just selling on their own lemonade stall) the main thing to note is that it is going to nurture strong life skills that they will adopt and carry with them right through their life – it is something you should try to encourage your child to do if they show an interest.

If you’ve got any children’s business ideas of your own to share please leave your comments below.

Buying And Selling Business Ideas

So, you are thinking about what sort of things you can buy and sell are you?

Well the good thing is that there are an almost unlimited number of things you can get involved with

If you think outside the box, you’ll begin to find lots of buying and selling business ideas to tickle your mind and get your creativity on a buzz.

Buying And Selling Business Ideas

Ideas that involve buying and selling are often the most popular because it can be simple and a lot of fun!

If you are the sort of person who wants to make quick and easy money then this information should be of great benefit.

There is nothing hard to this because all it takes is to buy something that is low in price (i.e. a bargain!) and then to put that same item up for sale again and hopefully gain some profit from the resulting sale as a result.

There are an almost unlimited number of places that you can look at to try and find these bargains and then these days (thanks to the advent of the internet) there are plenty of golden opportunities, and places where you can go and sell those items for a higher price.

middle man business ideas

Acting as the middle person your job simply involves finding products for buyers and then sourcing those products at a low price so you can make a profit.

In effect you are acting like a middle man (or woman).  You are simply connecting buyers with sellers and taking a cut, without any of them knowing anything about the other or your involvement.

So without further discussion let’s start to identify how you go about this.

There is a skill you will have to try and that is the skill of negotiating and bargaining to try and get the best deal possible.  You can still be successful with this method, but you would be missing out on a large portion of additional profits if you didn’t at least give it a try.

Being able to negotiate is something you really should try and be able to do with any kind of buying and selling business ideas.

There are countless people who want to get rid of stuff.

  1. You will find some people simply want the space back in their houses.
  2. There are some people who have no idea how much something is worth and would be happy to get a small amount of money for it.
  3. There are those who really know their prices and are not willing to negotiate.  You probably should stay clear of these ones and focus entirely on the bargains.

When you go and pick the items up there will always be room for negotiating.  You need to examine the product and look for any imperfections.  This could be things like rips, tears and stains.

If a product comes from a home where there are pets or smokers then this could impact the price too because they can leave odors.

If you know you can clean these items up then you can often negotiate lower prices.  It is always worth trying to haggle or negotiate with people, but I would suggest you keep it friendly.  There is no point trying to be an aggressive salesperson type, as this is not normally appreciated by a lot of people.

You will be surprised how many people are prepared to get rid of a product for 20% below their asking price in return for cash being placed in their hands there and then.. try it as you never know!

Once you’ve gathered your product(s) you need to try and make them look incredibly valuable.  I used to buy and sell games consoles and I would look for the ones which had lot’s of games thrown in too.  Then I could split the games up and make sure I placed some games with each console I sold.

I had an enormous amount of fun when I was doing this!

  • When you re-advertise the same product, present it in the best way possible.
  • Take good pictures with plenty of light in the room – a dull picture will damage sales!

The headline is CRITICAL!  It is the first thing people see and read when they are skimming all the ads or auctions.  Dress the product up without being daft, and then include as any of the features as you can.

headline

Getting an effective headline can impact results massively, so learn all you can about compelling copy

So without wasting any more time let’s look into this.

Often with a headline you will be limited with space, so you have to work hard to get the best results you can.

Let’s take a look at some poor examples and some better examples.

A poor headline:

For sale: 1 cat flap.  Good condition

A better version:

Now your cat can come and go as she pleases with this fabulous cat flap.

A poor headline:

Sony playstation and some games

A better version:

Sony playstation, excellent condition, with over 100 games, comes from a pet free and smoke free home.  Worth over $500

The second versions of the above examples mention the features and benefits…

such as:

100 games…. smoke free and pet free home…. etc.

These will always sell in higher quantities and should be what you are aiming for.

You should always try to imagine what it is your potential customer is looking for and PAINT THAT PICTURE IN THEIR HEADS when you are writing….

So if somebody is looking to sell a party dress you can imagine that whoever buys it wants to look super sexy, be the center of attention, and gain admiring glances.

Therefore your headline could be:

Sultry Silky Little Black Dress.  Very High Quality, Look A Million Dollars With This Dress

We’ve painted a picture in their heads as to what they could look like in that dress.  If you are able to successfully put that buyer into the image you’ve painted then you will make a lot of money with your writing, so be sure to take a lot of effort and do not skimp on this step!

This really should be one of these buying and selling ideas in it’s own right because it deserves a whole book written about it.

Let’s detail some places where you can find bargains:

bargains

Virtually unlimited, but here are some quick and short buying and selling business ideas to get your mind thinking.

eBay

Look for auctions where people put a low starting price, or don’t get enough bids.  Mis-spelled auction titles can often yield bargains because people simply don’t see them.  You will also find auctions where people really don’t know the proper value of the item they’re trying to sell and so list it really cheaply – often on a “buy it now” format.

Car boots / Markets

Like an outdoor market, people go to a field (usually) and open the rear of their car, and display items on tables.  Thousands of people walk by and look for bargains.  If you get there really early you can find the super bargains!

Family

Many families love to help their other family members.  Ask them if they have any unwanted items they don’t want, and often you’ll be given things for free.  You will also be able to suggest to other family members to offer to sell their items on their behalf in exchange for a percentage of the profits.

Classified Newspapers / free-ads

Because these are easy to use, a lot of people will list items for sale without giving a care for what sort of price to offer.  They may not have researched to see how much other people are selling the same product for elsewhere as a comparison.  This can sometimes be a potential goldmine.

Your local community

You could offer your services door to door, or by pushing leaflets through their doors (if permitted in your country), offering to sell peoples’ products minus a selling fee.

House clearances

There are many reasons why a house clearance could work in your favor.  Sometimes people move home, or simply want a good clear out of all their old stuff.  Sadly some people will die, and the family may simply want a quick clearance.  Of course, respect needs to be handled very carefully if you choose this route. Nonetheless it is a service which could be needed.

I hope you’ve found these ideas useful.  The buying and selling is not always confined to physical products.  You could end up buying and selling businesses if your forte is in negotiating at these levels.

Please feel free to discuss this below.  Thanks.

Business Plan Ideas For Students

What CAN students do to get on in life. Would a business make sense to them?

It’s hard enough being a student (well some will argue any way!).  There are the obvious pressures for you to do well, while at the same time, you often have to make to with a poor financial existence.

If you are looking for some business ideas that are suited to students then this article will definitely help get you started.  There really are a huge amount of things that you can do.

Once your creative mind gets to work thinking of ideas, they tend to start flowing rather fast so let’s get your mind into that stage right now!

Initial Research:

In general, most students will not be able to commit 100% to a particular kind of business because they want to complete their education.  Some students will be happy to earn a few extra dollars while others would love it if their money making venture was a big success, and they could choose to focus on it wholeheartedly if they wanted to.

Therefore it makes sense that any type of business plan should suit the lifestyle of a student.  It needs to be flexible in terms of the hours you work and ideally something you can simply come back to as and when you need to.

Therefore each of the following business plan ideas for students will be geared in this way.

Idea 1: Internet Marketing:

internet marketing business ideaThis is a set of skills you can acquire online and learn them in your own time and your own leisure.  It involves creating websites which contain information relating to subject.

The content should ideally contain certain “phrases” a number of times within it.  These phrases would be phrases that people are actually typing in when they are using their search engines.

If you knew that a lot of people were searching for the phrase “pink woolmark coats size 18″ then you’d want to ensure you included that phrase a few times within your content so that the search engines know that is what your site is all about.

You can find out what phrases people search for if you use the “Google External Keyword Tool” – do a search for that and you’ll get it.

Make sure your content is very informative and helpful and your customers will come back again and again.

You could use websites such as Amazon and look for products that sell in large numbers and then write a very long review of that product.  Make sure you get the product name, model number and other relevant information in your article and the search engines will see this.

I feel like this is one of the best business plan ideas for students that could ever be considered as it is completely flexible.

Pro’s and Con’s of Internet Marketing

Pro’s:

Internet Marketing is almost perfect because it allows you to go at your own pace and work from the comfort of your own home in all weathers.

Internet Marketing provides a source of income which can keep coming in each and every month whether you work at it or not, so in a way it is almost like passive income.  There is a degree of work you will always need to do, but in general once the content has been built, your income should increase and carry on growing as long as you keep chipping away at it.

Internet Marketing can be done at any hour of the day you decide to work at it.  There is also no need to be face to face with any of your customers so you won’t have any questions to handle, or awkward situations.  It’s also exciting when you get a nice affiliate payment sent to you either straight into your bank or as a check in the post.

Con’s:

Internet Marketing can sometimes be a lonely experience if you are working home alone.  You often do not have anyone to help you when you have a question, so you will need to find the answers yourself.  There are some places online that can help though.  I am a member of a forum that taught me all I know.  I’ve written a review if you want to know more.

Google often make changes to their algorithm’s so you can end up going from earning money to not earning money almost overnight IF you go about it in the wrong way.  If you go about it correctly then you really do not have anything to worry about.

Idea 2: Buying And Selling On eBay

ebay business idea for studentsThis is another superb little business that anybody can start on a budget.  In fact it can be started for as little as $10 or less.  There are so many ways to get involved with this method.

You could aim to become a professional seller and sell large volumes of various products.  The trouble is that you would most likely be involved on a full time basis to achieve this.  Getting round this would involve using automation software to save you time, and asking for help from members of your family.

The other option is to hire staff, but you have to walk before you can run, and if you wind up putting all your time into it, it may not be the best solution after all.

Anyway, I am getting a little bit ahead of myself on this matter.  That is something to look at or consider down the line should you wish to do so.  To start making some quick money begin by rooting through your cupboards for things you simply haven’t used for months and sell them on eBay.

Use this money to then go out and look for bargains which you can then re-sell.

You can choose to keep ploughing all your profits back in to generate even larger returns or dip into this technique as when it suits you and you need to earn some additional money.  When looking for bargains check out local free advertising newspapers, Facebook groups and even eBay itself.

Car-boots, Sunday markets and clearance sales can all yield bargains galore.  Several enterprising people even offer to sell products for other people in exchange for a percentage of the profits.  Most people are happy to pay for this kind of service because they don’t have to do any work at all, and they get to make money and increase the space in their home or garage.

Pro’s and Con’s of eBay Selling And Buying

Pro’s:

You can generate easy fast money every week if you want.  It’s almost like a bottomless pit of opportunities as there are countless people looking to get rid of stuff, so there will always be a bountiful supply of bargains to be had.

You can buy and sell in your local area but equally you can look further afield if you want to.

Con’s:

Items don’t always sell quickly, so you could end up with a house full of items that just aren’t selling, and your investment money would be tied up in them.

You might forget to price your item at a price to suit you, and the item could sell for the lowest amount going – so keep on top of this one!

Sometimes you can buy a product which is faulty, so try and research things fully before you buy them.  Give each item a full examination.  Try to stick to items that are from clean homes where there are no pets and the owners do not smoke – this can help a lot!

Idea 3: Getting a Job (huh???)

at work studentsAs a student, sometimes all you really want is to bring in some extra money so that you can spend it again in the student bar, or if you are a little more sensible, you can use it for more serious matters, including business plan development, or just to help pay your way through your education.

There are numerous job opportunities these days with various hours to suit you.  Lot’s of student tend to do things such as shelf stacking in their local grocery stores.  Others will favor things such as bar work in the evenings.

So ask yourself what it is that you really want.  If you are looking for a business then you probably want to grow that business whereas the opportunities a job can give you means that when you go home, there is nothing more to think about, apart from what to spend your money on.

Pro’s And Con’s Of Getting A Job

Pro’s:

With a job you know you are going to get paid for the number of hours you put into it.  This is not always the case if you are running your own business.  With a business you may have to invest a lot of time before you see a return.

With a job it has many distinct advantage when you choose this option over business plan ideas for students.  The money will definitely be there each payday and once you go home, you normally don’t have to think about it again.

You can accrue holiday pay.  If you go on an annual holiday, you can earn pay to cover all the days you are away on your vacation.

Con’s:

Many people feel unfulfilled in their lives when they are in a job.  It is the same thing day in, day out, unless you manage to get the job of your dreams.

If you don’t go to work, you don’t get paid, unless your job has a system in place to deal with illness payments.

Once you leave the job, that money will stop.  With a business the money can keep coming in day after day depending upon what it is you decide to do.

Idea 4: Washing Cars

washing car business idea As mentioned elsewhere on this website, even the simplest of ideas can be wildly lucrative.  It all comes down to mindset.  You could choose to be the person who cleans a car quick and demands payment without smiling, or you could be the person who makes a car gleam and offers a free wax coating.

With freebies like this you can get a lot of business, especially if you are cheap, or go out of your way to help them get their car looking immaculate.

You can get business quickly by knocking on doors in your neighborhood, or simply distributing flyers until someone calls you.

This has to be one of the easiest business plan ideas for students that you could ever get involved in.  If you don’t mind a bit of hard work, you can earn a fairly good income in your spare time.

In order to grow the business, you need to be able to attract enough new customers who use your services on a regular basis so that you can afford to hire staff to work for you.  Your staff will be paid a percentage of each vehicle cleaned, and you will also earn a percentage, even though you may not be there.

This idea may be as old as the hills, but with the right mind, it can make someone a lot of money.  All you need to do is have a creative edge.  Think outside the box.

Why not offer to clean cars dressed as a fireman or a chicken?  Why not have smart uniforms that ensures people remember you and choose to use you again.

Pro’s And Con’s To Washing Cars

Pro’s:

The money is instant.  If you need money by the end of the day all you need to be able to do is knock on a few doors or distribute some flyers in and around your local neighborhood.

You can grow the idea with nothing more than dogged determination and hard work.  Think outside the box.  Why not contact local garages and leave them your contact details.  With staff members you can eventually earn money each month without even being there.  This is an idea that can be scaled up with no limits.

Con’s:

You will likely get a lot of competition because others will always come and go and try to do the same thing.  All you need to do is keep your quality high and maintain your standards and your customers will stay faithful to you as long as you look after them.

In poor weather conditions things can be difficult.  You will need to be able to enjoy working outdoors.

Idea 5: Using Your Existing Skills For Cash

business ideas to tryWhile studying, why not make money as you learn?  Perhaps you are studying computer programming.  There are lots of companies and individuals who need small programming tasks to be done for them.

You can contact companies in your area or go to freelance websites such as Guru.com or eLance.com (as well as many others).  There are lot’s of categories to offer work in, ranging from admin work, design work and programming, so pretty much something for everyone.

Most students can do this as and when it pleases them.  Simply bid on a project and if you win it, you can do the work, get paid and return to this idea whenever you want to.

Pro’s And Con’s To Selling Your Skills

Pro’s:

The money is there are soon as you complete your services.

You can charge whatever you want, and the better you get known, you can charge more, especially when you are in demand.

Once you stop, you can walk away from it and not have to think about it.

You could grow this into a business by employing staff and taking on more orders.  train your staff how you’d like work to be done so that the standard remains the same.

Con’s:

The money is not passive or recurring, like with some business ideas.  So you’d need to keep coming back to this the next time you are in need of extra cash.

It can be lonely and stressful if you get awkward moments or angry clients.

It’s just like a job, but hopefully you enjoy your existing skills so the enjoyment levels will be higher.

Most Successful Business Ideas

What are the most successful business ideas, and what is it that makes them so much of a success?

Let’s identify three categories of business ideas

business idea

What is it that makes an idea really work? Why is it some people can make a difference when others can't? Are they more gifted than others?

Is it the idea itself or is it the person who is behind the idea?  After all, an idea is nothing unless action is taken to turn that idea into reality.

Ideas will remain as thoughts in our minds unless we act upon them.  Ideas will then slip away into the quietest corners of our minds before they finally ebb away.  if we are lucky then we may one day return to visit them, but until that time, they are worthless.

An idea will only be successful if action is taken to turn that idea into reality.

Sometimes even the most obvious ideas can become some of the most profitable and successful ones because the people behind that idea really do put their heart and soul into it.

Some of the best entrepreneurs around the world made their riches by rolling up their sleeves and knuckling down to some good old fashioned hard work.

So the most successful ideas are not always the ones which throw themselves at you and look glamorous, rather they are the ones which at least stand a chance of being successful, and then have the dogged determination of a hard working individual to really push those ideas.

hard work for business success

Those who are prepared to really work hard and at LEAST get started tend to have the most success.

If you are looking for a list of actual ideas ranked from number 1 to 100 then you simply are not going to find that here.  Instead you need to get yourself inspired by people who have “been there and done that” and have made a success of life themselves.  Some of the most successful business ideas are the ones with a hard working person behind them.

Anyway, let’s try to at least compile some sort of meaningful list to get your minds excited and buzzing.  Inspiration is like a Golden nectar to creative entrepreneurial minds.

The Most Successful Business Ideas – Ranked And Sorted

1: Position 1 has to go to the idea which is unique, and has never even been dreamed of before.

new business idea

This idea is one where people sit up and say “I wish I had thought of that”.

Things such as “toothpicks” and “Tupperware” are these sort of innovative ideas.

Try to look at life’s every day problems and see if you can think of something that is very cheap to make and can make life better as a result.

It doesn’t even have to be an amazingly technical solution.  Sometimes just a simple design change can make all the difference.  What about a new design for a handle for a cup?  Could you think of something that makes it more comfortable or doesn’t weigh on your fingers while being used?  Sometimes simple small ideas can become the most successful business ideas to go global and impact billions of people around the world.

So why not start to look round each day and whenever you find yourself saying “grrr” or “I hate it when XYZ happens”, or “why does ABC always happen to me”, see if you can think of something so simple that it would make a difference to the millions and millions of people all over the world have go through the same problems.  You never know!

2: In position 2 is the idea which is similar to existing solutions but is an improvement upon an idea.

good business idea

Making minor improvements to existing solutions can be the catalyst for some of the best business ideas to ever grace the planet. If nobody ever improved an idea we would all be driving old cars with a single cyclinder that was powered by coal!

Many wildly successful people have made vast fortunes by simply coming up with a “better way” of doing something that already serves a purpose.

What sort of things could this encompass?  Well you only have to look around you and see if any of those things could be done “better”.  Is it possible to make cutlery perform better than what has already been out there for centuries?

Existing improvements include the likes of things such as ergonomic keyboards for computers.

These have been developed because of genuine real life ailments that afflict people, so could you come up with a similar idea?

Quite often these can be simpler concepts.  If you see a local tradesman who can repair your home electrics (but did a poor job), would that stop you from setting up the same business in the same part of town? Of course it wouldn’t, so there are many things that can be done that can give you a better lifestyle and standard of living.

You just need to take the plunge and do it!

3: Position 3 are all the ideas that stand very little chance of being a success.

thumbs down business idea

Avoid silly business ideas at all cost! They waste your time and money and generally end up causing misery.

These are the sort of ideas you need to avoid.  You need to be able to spot these ideas from a good distance away and realize right away that there is no point in putting a lot of your own effort into them.  Even though there are no hard and fast rules to these (sometimes some people seem to do well with them), generally they are not the best ideas to consider.

These are not normally the most successful business ideas!

These would include the likes of criminal activity and activities where your moral ethics are not included as part of your thought process.

If your aim is to “rip people off” and grab every  One day you may well have to spend a long time in a prison cell, and all the time you are practicing this activity you would be looking over your shoulder, wondering when that knock on your door is going to come.

If you wanted to loan people money and then threaten to break their fingers if they don’t pay then one day this is going to come back and bite you hard in your rear!

Other ideas may include the ones which are derived around the gambling industry.

While this may well be profitable for a few very gifted people, you’d need to spend a long time learning skills to make this work.  We are simply looking at ideas which can work for anyone who is prepared to work hard at them.

So Exactly WHAT Is It That Makes The Most Successful Business Ideas Be The Ones That Everybody Remembers?

consistency

When we break down these categories we will find thousands of business ideas, and there will still be some people who take those ideas and do well with them, and then those who do not.

The major difference in these results does not always come from the fact that some people are super-intelligent, but rather comes from the fact that some people CONSISTENTLY work at their ideas.

This consistency of ACTION seems to be a common trait.  There are a lot of key traits that successful entrepreneurs exhibit.  A positive attitude is key, and this includes a “can-do” attitude where people will immediately get up and start taking action.

Taking some action is better than taking no action.

Imagine trying to push a heavy car along which has broken down.  At first you will have to push with all your might.  It will seem impossible and you will want to give up.

Eventually it may start to rock, and this will eventually force it to move very slowly.  Once this begins then it seems the car will keep on moving with small pushes.

This is because inertia has kicked in, and once inertia has kicked in, it’s easy to keep going.  The hardest part is simply getting started!

So get started on an idea and keep chipping away at it consistently.  This will lead you to the success you need.  The idea doesn’t have to be amazing, it just needs the right attitude!
